RE: Big Bend Area October 2008

We visited Big Bend back in March and stayed at the Lajitas resort campground. In my opinion this is the best campground in the Big Bend area. Large sites, easy to navigate and fairly good facilities (full hookups) pool, etc..
Here is a good description of our experience and some photos:

South Padre Island, Texas

Hello all,
We are headed down to South Padre in a few weeks. We have reservations at the KOA SPI. The reviews on rvparkreviews.com are positive so we are excited.
We have never been down to South Padre so I am looking for input on a few things:
1. Activities on the island that are worth doing other than the obvious Schlitterbaun? Has anyone done the dolphin watching trips or horseback riding on the island?
2. Good restaurant suggestions?
3. Travel Route down to SPI? We live in Austin and Google Maps indicates a route from Austin to San Antonio vi I35 to Corpus via I37, then 77 down towards SPI. It is a long drive so I was curious as to suggestions on the route.
Thanks,
Chris

RE: Texas - Canyon creek COE campground near New Braunsfels

Never stayed at Canyon Lake but it is on my list. Here are some other suggestions that are close to Austin:
1. Inks Lake State Park (our favorite place)
2. Blanco State Park
3. Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park in Fredericksburg
All are close enough for day drives into Austin,etc..
If you stay at Canyon Lake, let me know how it goes...

RE: Name my Rig

I saw on a post somewhere (on this forum I think..) where a camper was named "Cram-A-Lot". I think that is hilarious!!!
- Chris
That's me! Except it is "Cram-A-Lot Inn"
LOL!! My wife and I love that name. We are looking for a cool name like that. It really resonates with us since we are "cramming" tons of stuff in the trailer before a trip.
BTW, I am "Georgia" boy as well. Born and raised down in Willacoochee, Georgia which is in Atkinson County. We live in Austin, Texas now.

RE: Are we the only crazy ones out there?

We use out camper on average 3 weekends out of the month. And 3 full weeks out of the year on long trips. Does any one else use their TT that much that arnt full timers. We are in our low 30's and just love our TT. Been using like that for 4 years now.
Just wondering
My wife and I are far from being retired and we enjoy our TT as well. We purchased last fall and have already been 4 trips this year as well as a 7 day trip out to Big Bend National Park. We love it. I just wish I had more time to go out more (as well as more money for gas!!).
Check out our RV web site if you like:

Hi Justin.
I own a 2007 Cherokee 28A+ that I purchased last year. My family and I absolutely love it. I tow it with my F150 (5.4L with 3.73 rear end with towing package).
I have a web site that has the details and photos of our rig plus some info on our trips. Feel free to check it out:
http://thegaskins.dyndns.org
Also there is a Forest River Forum that has good information as well. The URL for it is:

RE: Blanco State Park (Texas) is GREAT!!

This park is only about 40 minutes from us and we love it too. It is small and although it is right off 281 you really don't hear traffic in there. We have always had a good time when there. With gas prices being what they are Blanco, Guadalupe River, Kerrville, and So Llano will be our destinations for most trips. Tough choices I know.
Gaskins, next time you go through Junction you might consider the SP there. I realize if you were only passing thru the KOA is more convenient but if you have never stayed at So Llano SP you should try to do so. It is about 5 miles south of town and is just wonderful. The tubing is fun and the "swimming hole" has a chute that people just love. Lots of wildlife too. A real gem for Texas.
ML
Yes, we want to go back to South Llano State Park. Back in March when we were passing through KOA was the easy / logical choice as were there for overnight only.
We have never stayed and Guadalupe River State Park. How is it?

RE: The best RV Park I have ever stayed in.....

I'm sure we have a few favorites, but Guadalupe River RV Resort in Kerrville, Texas, is beautiful!
Great place. Stayed there on our very first camping trip.
We have not been RVers long, but our favorite so far is Inks Lake State Park (Texas).

RE: Blanco State Park (Texas) is GREAT!!

Really cool pictures and I loved hearing about the park. We live in the DFW area and we love visiting state parks. We are on our way to Fort Wilderness, Disney World right now. We stayed in our first KOA the other night and we were just saying that state parks are soooo much better. Maybe we'll see you on the road. We will have to check out that park. QT2
Thanks. We are new to RVing and enjoy sharing our experiences, plus I am an avid amateur photographer so I love taking pictures...
We stayed in a KOA in Junction, Texas back in March in our way out to Big Bend. It was nice, but we are also very partial to the Texas State Parks. We went to Inks Lake back on Memorial Day weekend and that is our favorite place so far.
Enjoy your trip to Fort Wilderness. If you take some photos of the campground, please share them me as we are like to make that trip one day as well.

Chris

RE: Water Pressure Issue

Unscrew the aerator from the end of the faucet and makes sure it's not stopped up with debris. The screen in there catches just about everything and it is common for them to get plugged.
Duh... I feel like an idiot now. Thanks!!

Water Pressure Issue

Hello all,
We have a Forest River Cherokee 28A+ travel trailer. This past weekend while camping at Blanco State Park, we had a water pressure problem in with the kitchen faucet. The water pressure in the bathroom and the outside shower were fine. However in the kitchen the water just a trickle. Any ideas?

RE: Anyone been to Blanco State Park in Texas

Our 1st night in our TT was at Blanco in January. Nice park, even though we spent most of our time getting things packed away and it was cold we found time to drive around and look at the park. I hope you have reservations as the State Parks are mostly booked up for the summer weekends.

Yeah, we have reservations. Thanks for the info!
